MORREU HOJE O ANTIGO BASQUETEBOLISTA ÂNGELO VICTORIANO
O antigo basquetebolista Ângelo Victoriano morreu na madrugada deste sábado, em Luanda, aos 55 anos de idade, vítima de doença prolongada.
O antigo capitão da Selecção Nacional e do 1º de Agosto padecia de diabetes e encontrava-se internado no hospital Militar, acabando por falecer durante a madrugada.
O antigo extremo-poste foi distinguido, em Agosto de 2023, pela FIBA Mundo pelos feitos alcançados com a Selecção Nacional nos pavilhões espalhados por África, Europa, Ásia e América.
Ângelo tornou-se no segundo angolano a merecer tamanha distinção “FIBA Hall of Fame”, depois de Jean-Jacques da Conceição, antigo poste, também do 1º de Agosto, em 2013.
Ângelo Victoriano – percurso
Começou a carreira desportiva em 1982, aos 14 anos de idade. Transferiu-se para o Petro de Luanda com 16, tendo sido convocado para a Selecção Nacional júnior, visando o Campeonato Africano das Nações, em Moçambique.
Durante a carreira, o antigo extremo-poste conquistou quatro títulos de campeão nacional pelos “tricolores”, seis pelos “militares” do Rio Seco, um pelos “aviadores” e igual número pelo Queluz de Portugal.
Pelo 1.º de Agosto, arrebatou ainda três troféus de clubes africanos, enquanto pela Selecção Nacional de seniores conquistou oito títulos africanos (1989, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1999, 2001, 2003 e 2005).
Estreou-se no Campeonato do Mundo da Argentina em 1990, seguido de presenças nas edições decorridas no Canadá (1994) e Estados Unidos (1998).
Ângelo Victoriano competiu, também, nos Jogos Olímpicos de Barcelona, Espanha, em 1992, Atlanta, EUA (1996), Sidney, Austrália (2000) e Grécia, Atenas (2004).
Além de atleta, em 2009, Ângelo exerceu a função de treinador assistente no 1.º de Agosto, onde foi campeão nacional. Fonte: ANGOP
