Numa das suas intervenções, o Administrador Municipal Tomás Bica Mumbundo diz que esforços têm sido invidados para resolver aquilo a que chama de “enteado”.
“Nós Administração municipal temos estado a fazer tudo que tiver ao nosso alcance para dar um pai a este monumento, porque nem o Ministério dos Antigos Combatentes e Veteranos da Pátria, nem o Ministério da Cultura e Turismo, e nem mesmo Governo da Província ou nós a Administração, somos o tutor do espaço. Então estamos a fazer tudo para que dentre todas estas instituições, alguém se responsabilize sobre o mesmo, denunciou Tomás Bica.
O marco histórico foi inaugurado pelo Antigo Presidente da República José Eduardo dos Santos a 19 de Setembro de 2005 em homenagem aos heróis tombados pela causa da independência e custou ao Governo cerca de 5 milhões de dólares.
