Bispo Mário Lukunde nasceu no Caimbambo a 13 de Maio de 1957 província de Benguela, País Angola.
Foi ordenado sacerdote a 3 de Fevereiro de 1985 por Dom Óscar Braga.
Papa Bento XVI nomeou-o Bispo de Menongue aos 3 dias do mês Agosto de 2005.
Foi sagrado a Bispo por Óscar Lino Lopes Fernandes Braga (já na outra dimensão da vida) a 9 de Outubro do mesmo de 2005 na Capelinha dos Navegantes;
Celebração que contou com a presença dos bispos co-cordenantes Dom Giovanni Angelo Becciu, então Núncio Apostólico em Angola e São Tomé e Príncipe e Zacarias Kamwenho, Arcebispo do Lubango.
Aos 16 dias do mês de Outubro de 2005 tomou posse em Menongue.
Em 12 de março de 2018, o Papa Francisco aceitou sua renúncia antecipada por causa da doença.
Hoje, 26.02.2023, às 18h00 no Hospital Geral de Benguela rende a sua alma ao Criador.
